Getting Started
I’m a complete beginner. Is this for me?
Absolutely. Most of our students started as complete beginners. Emma-Louise teaches all classes at a mixed level, which means she always offers modifications and progressions for every exercise. You’ll never be put on the spot or expected to know what you’re doing from day one. Just turn up, follow along, and ask questions whenever you need to.
What do I need for a class?
For venue classes: Bring a mat and wear comfortable clothing you can move freely in. Equipment like balls, resistance bands, and weights is provided at the venue.
For online classes:
- A mat — or a thick towel or carpet will do to start with
- Comfortable clothing — anything you can move freely in
- A small space — enough room to lie down and stretch your arms out
- A device with Zoom — laptop, tablet, or phone
- An internet connection — standard broadband or 4G/5G is fine
Resistance bands are optional but useful — we sell them in our shop.
Do I need any experience?
None at all. Our classes are designed for all levels. Emma-Louise explains every movement clearly and offers easier options alongside more challenging ones. You work at your own pace.
About the Classes
What’s the difference between venue and online classes?
Venue classes are held in person at locations across Leeds — Rawdon, Horsforth, and Rodley. You get hands-on instruction and all equipment is provided.
Online classes are live on Zoom. Emma-Louise teaches in real time, so you still get personal guidance and corrections — just from the comfort of your home.
Both types are small, friendly, and suitable for all levels.
How do the Zoom classes work?
- Book your class on the website
- You’ll receive an email with a Zoom link
- Click the link a few minutes before class starts
- Emma-Louise will welcome you and guide you through the session
- You can have your camera on or off — completely your choice
How do I book a venue class?
Contact Emma-Louise directly to book your place: call or text 07789 960132 or email info@holistic-fitness.co.uk. Advance booking is required.
Can I turn my camera off in online classes?
Yes, absolutely. Some people prefer camera on so Emma-Louise can check their form. Others prefer camera off. Both are completely fine.
What if I can’t keep up?
That’s totally normal, especially in your first few classes. Go at your own pace, take breaks when you need to, and don’t worry about keeping up perfectly. Nobody is watching or judging you — everyone is focused on their own workout.
What’s the difference between Pilates and LBT & HIIT?
Pilates is slower, more controlled, and focuses on core strength, flexibility, posture, and breathing. It’s low-impact and gentle on the joints.
LBT & HIIT (Legs, Bums, Tums & High-Intensity Interval Training) is more energetic and cardio-focused. It builds cardiovascular fitness and lower body strength. Emma-Louise always offers lower-impact options.
Booking & Payment
How much does it cost?
- Single online class: £4
- Unlimited online class pass: £39.95/month (access to every online class, every day)
Where are the venue classes held?
- Greenacre Community Hall, Rawdon LS19 — Mondays
- St James Woodside, Horsforth LS18 — Wednesdays
- The Church of Rodley, Rodley LS13 — Tuesdays & Thursdays
Health & Safety
Is Pilates safe if I have a health condition?
Pilates is generally considered safe and is often recommended by physiotherapists and GPs. However, if you have any health conditions, injuries, or concerns, please check with your doctor before starting and let Emma-Louise know so she can offer appropriate modifications.
Is Pilates suitable during pregnancy?
Please consult your midwife or GP before joining classes during pregnancy. Let Emma-Louise know your stage of pregnancy so she can guide you safely.
I have back pain. Can I still join?
Many of our students come to Pilates specifically to help with back pain. Please check with your GP first, especially if your pain is acute. Let Emma-Louise know so she can offer modifications.
