Thinking about trying a Zoom Pilates class but not sure what to expect? You’re not alone. It’s one of the most common questions we get asked at Holistic Fitness — and the honest answer is: it’s much easier than you think.
Here’s exactly how our live Zoom Pilates classes work, step by step.
Before the Class
1. Book Your Class Online
Head to our online classes page and choose the session that fits your schedule. We run Zoom Pilates classes six days a week — mornings, lunchtimes, and evenings. Each class is just £4, pay as you go. No membership, no contract.
2. Get Your Zoom Link
After booking, you’ll receive an email with your personal Zoom link. You can join from a laptop, tablet, or phone — whatever you have. If you don’t have Zoom installed, it’s free to download from zoom.us.
3. Set Up Your Space
You don’t need a home gym. All you need is:
- A mat (or a thick towel — honestly, that’s fine to start)
- Comfortable clothing you can move in
- Enough space to lie down and stretch your arms out
- A stable internet connection
That’s it. No special equipment needed.
During the Class
It’s a Real Class, Not a Video
This is what makes Zoom Pilates different from following along with YouTube. Emma-Louise teaches every class live — she can see you (if your camera is on), give real-time corrections, answer questions, and adapt exercises on the fly.
It’s the closest thing to being in a studio, without leaving your house.
Camera On or Off — Your Choice
Some people prefer to have their camera on so Emma-Louise can check their form and give personal feedback. Others prefer camera off and just follow along. Both are completely fine — there’s no pressure either way.
All Levels Welcome
Every class is mixed ability. Emma-Louise provides modifications for every exercise — easier options if you’re new, more challenging variations if you want to push yourself. You’ll never be singled out or made to feel uncomfortable.
What Does a Typical Class Include?
A standard Zoom Pilates class with Holistic Fitness runs for approximately 45-60 minutes and includes:
- A gentle warm-up to prepare your body
- Core strengthening exercises
- Flexibility and mobility work
- Posture and alignment focus
- Breathing technique
- A cool-down and stretch
After the Class
You close Zoom and get on with your day. No commute home from the gym. No fighting for parking. Many of our students do the lunchtime class on their work break and are back at their desk within the hour.
Is Zoom Pilates as Good as In-Person?
In many ways, yes. You get the same qualified instruction, the same structured class, and the same results. The main difference is convenience — you can join from anywhere with an internet connection.
Some of our students actually prefer Zoom because:
- No travel time or cost
- They feel less self-conscious exercising at home
- They can fit it around childcare, work, or other commitments
- They can join from anywhere in the UK (or abroad)
